I’ve been getting some ideas of things I may change around the website. I was thinking about changing the theme, as I have thought about multiple times in the past without doing. It’s probably time.
I’m also thinking about hosting my free stories on this site as webpages, so you may be able to read Educating Goldilocks right on this website.
However I was thinking that if I go to that much trouble, I probably want to monetize this website. Right now, I earn exactly nothing from anything I put up here. The only reason I keep this website is to make sure I can reach you, my readers, if somehow every other website that I’m on, Facebook, Tumblr, Amazon, and Smashwords, decides to drop me.
Right now the traffic is low enough for me to afford this website with the meager earnings I make on my books. If I’m going to host them here, I’m going to need a bit more money. I was thinking of using Coin Hive to generate Monero to pay for the served-up stories. I would do this by putting a widget on the ordinary pages, something that would allow you to turn it off if you don’t want to use your CPU to generate Monero for me (understandable), but any story content would not have the option to turn off the script. If you want to view any of my stories here, say A Special Delivery, or Oops!, while on my site, you’re going to have to pay for that privilege. Since I’m against putting ads on my site, Monero mining seems a reasonable way of having you pay for the content you are reading.
I still need to look into Coin Hive hooks to WordPress before I do this, and I will warn you if I implement it. But don’t be surprised if you see it sometime soon.
Wish us all luck!
