I’m two-thirds of the way done with Extra Credit and I currently think I could be done with it tomorrow. I expect to be able to upload the four books by Friday, at the latest. It genuinely could end up being that late. I anticipate things getting busy quite soon. It is that time of year, after all.
Now, since this is the first time I’ve published a book, I don’t actually know how long between the time I upload the books for publication, and when you’ll see them on Smashwords, iBooks, Kobo, and Barnes and Noble. I know from what I’ve read that it takes “some time,” but those books and postings saying that have been quite vague about the amount of time they mean. It could be immediate, or weeks later for all I know.
I’ll try to keep track of the publication as it propagates through the digital medium, but I’d love it if you readers could post notes on this site letting me know when you see them available for sale. That goes double for when I publish on Amazon. Educating Goldilocks is supposed to be free on all platfprms, but Amazon doesnt allow you to publish it for free. They will price-match to free though.
That leads me to the one platform you won’t find my books on: Google. I’ve heard from several sources that Google Books likes to put books on sale for free. They supposedly reimburse the author for the books they sell for free on the Google Books site, but most other retailers will price-match Google, and won’t reimburse you for those free sales on their sitedue to the Google sale.
So, no Google Books editions, for now. And the Kindle editions are likely to follow the others due to their pricing policy. I’ll just have to see.
If you have an update to Google’s practices, or anything else not-SPAMmy, be sure to leave a comment below!
